Minturn homes, businesses without water

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

MINTURN, Colorado – As of 3 p.m. Monday, homes and businesses from Mann Avenue north towards Interstate 70 were without water due to an issue with an “isolation valve” during repairs to the water line at the corner of Main Street and Harrison Avenue.

This was an unanticipated water shut-off after initial repairs were begun earlier Monday. It is possible the same area will be without water for most of Tuesday.

Once the water has been turned back on for those who were without water Monday, the water can be utilized for bathing and washing, but not drinking or cooking until further notice. Once the water samples have been taken by staff and then tested by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the public will be notified when the water is safe to resume drinking and using for cooking.

If further work is required on this portion of the water line Tuesday, there will be one lane of alternating traffic on Main Street from Norman Avenue to Harrison Avenue.

Free bottled water is available at Town Hall. If you choose to utilize water from your home, be sure to boil it for at least three minutes. This water restriction impacts those residents from Mann Avenue to the north.
