Minturn hosts cowboy poetry and music party

MINTURN – On Sunday, town of Minturn hosts a beach party – Wild West style. The town is throwing a cowboy poetry and music gathering at its new Little Beach Park Amphitheater from 3-6 p.m.Master of ceremonies for the event will be the “trail blazer” Liz Masterson of Denver. Masterson, who yodels and sings, is known for helping to revive western music since 1982. Along with Matterson, Bill Barwick and bass player Mac McCartney, also from Denver. will perform. Barwick is a regular at the “Buckhorn Exchange” in Denver. The duo of Gary Knighting of Colorado Springs and Larry Glenn of Rifle will share their poetry, stories and Cowboy camaraderie drawn from real life. The Yampa Valley Boys of Steamboat Springs will bring the banjo to the stage along with the acoustic guitar. Local poet Bud Gates will make an appearance as well as historian Frank Doll.”Minturn is proud to join with these artists and cowboys as they perform in the effort to preserve the genre of cowboy music,” Karen Early, organizer of the event said.To reach the park, take I-70 Exit 171, Hwy 24 South 2.5 miles.
