Minturn Middle School gets final goodbye
Vail, CO Colorado
MINTURN, Colorado – After serving the community for the past 33 years, Minturn Middle School will be closing its doors.
Students, staff and parents invite the community to join them for the closing ceremony at the school, located at 1951 South Highway 24 in Minturn, at 11 a.m. Friday. Special guest speakers will take part in the ceremony, including State Rep. Dr. Millie Hamner, who spent a number of years as a teacher and administrator at Eagle County Schools. The community is invited to take a final walk through the building and to share their stories and memories of the school. Light refreshments will be served.
One of the many fun traditions over the years has been students painting ceiling tiles. Alumni who have painted panels may retrieve their pieces of art, if they wish, by coming by Minturn Middle School between June 14 and 17.
Finally, to let the legacy live on, several of the old MMS jerseys and uniforms will be donated to the Turntable Restaurant in Minturn. An official dedication ceremony will be held at the Turntable on Monday at 10 a.m.
