Minturn road project begins Monday

EAGLE COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation, in cooperation with American Civil Constructors LLC, will begin roadway improvements on U.S. Highway 24 from Interstate 70 through the town of Minturn to Maloit Park Road. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, May 13, and will continue through October.

This resurfacing project will improve the existing roadway surface and will also advance safety enhancements throughout the corridor. Safety features include rockfall mitigation, upgraded storm sewer capacity, upgraded guardrail to meet current standards and added sidewalks. In partnership with CDOT, the town of Minturn has funded local improvements including additional sidewalks from Meek Avenue to the bus stop just north of the Battle Mountain Trading Post, new curb, gutter, driveway entrances and Americans with Disabilities Act enhancements.

Significant storm sewer work will occur south of Cemetery Road to the bus stops at mile marker 146 to improve drainage and reduce sediment discharge. The total project cost is $6.7 million.
