Minturn Saloon to host live music on summer weekends
The Minturn Saloon expands its live music offerings with Pat Hamilton performing this summer. Hamilton will play on Sundays afternoons on the Minturn Saloon’s riverside deck beginning on Sunday. Music will begin at 5 p.m. and last until about 7 p.m. Come on down for drink, appetizers and dinner, while enjoying one of the valley’s most well known and loved entertainers.
The Minturn Saloon is also continuing Saturday Night Live music with Scotty Kabel and friends beginning tonight. Kabel has been packing fans into the Saloon bar Saturday nights for the last two years, and this summer will be no exception. Kabel has been a leading force in many of the region’s top bands like Bonfire Dub, Little Hercules, Min’urn Express and more. The music begins about 9 p.m.
Besides performing original songs, Hamilton covers folk, light jazz and a little rock, ranging from Lucinda Williams to Norah Jones to the Grateful Dead. A longtime local favorite, she has opened for valley appearances by Lyle Lovett, The Dixie Chicks and Doc Watson.
Along with pianist Peter Vavra, Hamilton performs an annual Christmas in Vail concert for the benefit of the Salvation Army. Through the years the event has raised close to a quarter million dollars for the organization. She has five CDs, including a CD of original songs, “Pure and Simple; Sweet Memories,” which features originals and covers; a children’s CD, “Lullabyes and Other Songs”; and two Christmas CDs, “Christmas in Vail” and “You Are My Christmas.” She has two videos on YouTube, featuring her original songs, “Through Angel’s Eyes” and “The Pothole Picker,” which was played on NPR’s Car Talk radio program.
Along with the Minturn Saloon, Hamilton performs at Splendido in Beaver Creek and the Vail Marriott Hotel Resort And Spa.
