Minturn teen to compete in national pageant

Alicia Canepa of Minturn will compete in the Miss Teen America pageant, July 3, in Nashville, TN. Canepa will represent Colorado.

A Minturn teen is headed to Nashville to compete in the Miss Teen America pageant.

Ali Canepa, daughter of Brian and Paula Canepa, will represent Colorado at the pageant, scheduled for July 3-10.Canepa will compete for scholarships and the title of Miss Teen America 2004. If she wins, she will compete for the title of Miss Teen Galaxy, an international pageant for teens to be held in the summer of 2005. She will also get her own column in Super Models Unlimited magazine.Canepa’s interests include dance, snowboarding, skiing, surfing and playing her guitar.

The event is produced by the nonprofit Continental Miss Teen America Scholarship Program, Inc. The organization gives away more than a half million dollars in scholarships and awards to young women between the ages of 14 and 18, who are active in their schools and communities. Much of a contestant’s qualifications are based on leadership.
