Minturn’s Christmas on Main Street set for Monday

MINTURN, Colorado ” The Minturn Community Fund will host a holiday celebration intent on bringing together friends and families who call Minturn and the valley home.

On Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m., enjoy the simple pleasures of hot chocolate, roasting marshmallows over wood fires, exchanging cookies, sipping hot cider or a glass of gluehwein, making holiday ornaments, and catching up with friends and family. For a few hours during this busy holiday season, slow down and celebrate the uncomplicated aspects of the holidays with Minturn’s Christmas on Main Street.

The highlight of the evening will be the renewal of a Minturn tradition ” Santa arriving on snowmobile.

“I remember this event from my childhood,” said Kerry Donovan from the Minturn Community Fund. “it was so exciting to see Santa arrive by snowmobile. As a kid it just made more sense to me that Santa would use a snowmobile to get around this country.”

The jolly old elf will arrive at 5:30 p.m. and will use the transport of the Holy Cross Powder Hounds Snowmobile Club in order to rest his reindeer before their biggest night. Santa Claus will have just enough time to say hello to all the kids, young and old, before he must depart back up the hill and head North for final preparations. Minturn’s Christmas on Main Street is intent on bringing back a hometown holiday celebration ” less Rockefeller and more Rockwell.
