Missed stop sign leads to more trouble

Eagle Valley Enterprise
Gypsum, CO Colorado

An officer patrolling along Brush Creek Road around midnight on Nov. 8 pulled over a vehicle after the driver drove through a stop sign.

When he approached the car, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol and a crying female in the passenger seat. When asked, the woman said she was all right. The driver said the two had been hanging out in the woods, discussing their relationship when they became involved in an argument. He admitted they had been drinking.

The driver agreed to attempt roadside maneuvers, which he could not completed. He was then given a breath test which revealed his blood alcohol count was .166, more than twice the legal limit.

He was arrested for DUI, failure to stop and open container.
