Missing jewelry, taunting note in Eagle

EAGLE, Colorado –An Eagle woman contacted police March 23 to report missing jewelry and a taunting note left in her bedroom.

The woman reportedly told the Eagle officer she was missing a 2-carat sapphire valued at $300 and a silver and turquoise bracelet valued at $700. She also presented a short message written on a sticky note and a bent hanger that had been left in her room.

The woman told police that she rents a bedroom in an Eagle house which she left locked while she was incarcerated at the county jail for six months. Approximately one month prior to her release, the woman asked the homeowner to retrieve a pair of glasses from the locked room. She said he did not re-lock the room when he left. When she returned to the residence, the woman said her room was still unlocked and she found the note and the hanger.

The woman told Eagle Police she didn’t initially notice the missing items, but she has since searched for them extensively and cannot find them. She also told officers that she believes the note was left by another woman, to taunt her about a romantic relationship. She produced other notes from the woman, which she received while in jail.

The officer examined the handwriting from the sticky note and the notes the woman received while at the jail. In the police report, he note the handwriting did not seem to be the same.

The officer advised the woman to purchase and install a new door lock and complete an inventory of her jewelry.
