MINTURN ” The Missoula Children’s Theatre will return to Minturn Aug. 4 through the 9 to produce “Jack and The Beanstalk” with a cast of local kids. Open auditions are Aug. 4. After last year’s successful and popular presentation of “The Wiz of the West,” the Minturn Community Fund is bringing children’s theatre back to Minturn.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is the nation’s largest touring theatre for children and has now been touring extensively for 35 years from Montana to Japan.

The touring theatre company arrives in Minturn Aug. 4 to hold open auditions for local and visiting students. The auditions will be held in the Minturn Town Council Chambers. Those auditioning should arrive at 1 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

This is an opportunity for local and visiting students to participate in a full scale performance of “Jack and The Beanstalk” in just a week. The tour team arrives in town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play. All Missoula Children’s Theatre shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairy tales, but with a twist.

Approximately 50 roles are available for students. All students entering first grade through eighth grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Most students rehearse four hours each day, Tuesday through Friday.
