Missoula Children’s Theatre to hold auditions next week in Vail Valley

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – The Missoula Children’s Theatre will return to Colorado’s Vail Valley July 27 through Aug. 1 to produce “Pinocchio” with a cast of local kids. Open auditions are Monday in Minturn. After last year’s popular presentation of “Jack and The Beanstalk,” the Minturn Community Fund will again bring children’s theatre back to Minturn. The Missoula Children’s Theatre is the nation’s largest touring theatre for children and has now been touring extensively for 35 years from Montana to Japan.

The touring theatre company arrives in Minturn Monday to hold open auditions for local and visiting students. The auditions will be held in the Minturn Town Council Chambers, next to the post office. Those auditioning should arrive at 1 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. The audition is designed to be stress free and a fun experience for all – a great entry for first timers into the world of theater.

This is an opportunity for local and visiting students to participate in a full scale performance of “Pinnocchio” in just a week. The tour team arrives in town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play. All Missoula Children’s Theatre shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales, but with a twist.

Approximately 50 roles are available for students. All students entering first grade through eight grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Most students rehearse four hours each day, Tuesday through Friday. Two free community performances will be presented Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Little Beach Amphitheatre in Minturn. There is a participation fee of $75 for the entire week of fun and theatrical experiences. Financial need scholarships are available through the Minturn Community Fund.
