Moose meanders into Denver-area suburb
BROOMFIELD, Colorado – State wildlife officers are monitoring the movements of a moose that has wandered into Broomfield and settled down in a grassy drainage area in the north-Denver suburb.
The officers spent Wednesday afternoon tracking the female moose. Vicki Vargas-Madrid of the Colorado Division of Wildlife says officers will watch her to make sure she doesn’t get close to the highway.
Vargas-Madrid says there are few homes and little traffic in the area, so the moose is unlikely to threaten pedestrians or motorists.
In Colorado, moose are mostly found in the north-central part of the state. Division of Wildlife spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill says they’ve been wandering east more frequently into Front Range areas.
