More crews search for Colorado hiker missing in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY ” More crews have arrived in southern Utah to search for a Colorado woman missing since Nov. 16.

The Emery County Sheriff’s Department said the Friday the search for 54-year-old Rose Backhaus is focusing in the area of Goblin Valley State Park.

Backhaus, of New Castle, Colo., was reported missing by her family when she failed to return from a hiking trip. Her SUV was found Monday near the Little Wild Horse Canyon trailhead in Goblin Valley State Park.



The popular canyon trail is known for its narrow slot canyons.

The search since Monday has included a helicopter, off-road vehicles and dogs.



There were no new leads in the search Friday.

The 3,600-acre state park near Hanksville is about 230 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.
