Most Colorado highways reopen after adverse weather
DENVER, Colorado ” All but two stretches of Colorado highways have reopened after a snowstorm caused icy roads and poor visibility for holiday travelers returning home.
Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Bob Wilson said Monday the only remaining closures are U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass and U.S. 285 from Kenosha Pass to Fairplay and South Park.
Wilson says conditions on those two stretches of highway are expected to remain windy and icy with snowpack.
Red Cross spokeswoman Nicole Adair says the agency is closing a shelter in Silverthorne where about 130 stranded travelers stayed Sunday night.
The State Patrol says five people were injured in separate accidents on Sunday. The patrol says drivers face careless driving charges.
