Most participants ever for Gypsum Daze run
Gypsum, CO, Colorado
Wow, what a day! Thanks to all the runners and walkers who showed up to make the Gypsum Daze 5K Run/Walk the biggest ever. Over 200 people participated in the race that honored Terry Thompson, and over $2,000 was raised for the Small Champions charity.
While the participants were great, the staff may have been just a little overwhelmed by the numbers and we were certainly not prepared to provide hats and goodie bags for all those who showed up. Thanks to all those who participated for understanding and doing their part to help make this a truly great event.
Many thanks to our sponsors: Columbine Market, Big Steve’s Towing, Barker Rinker Seacat, and Tom and Margaret Edwards. Thanks also to our contributors who do so much to supply the prizes, goodie bags and other items necessary to put on this event.
Contributors include Alpine Ambiance, American National Bank, Bravo!, Carquest Auto Parts, Columbine Market, Costco, Cotton Ranch Golf, Eagle-Gypsum Garden Center, Garden Center of Gypsum, Gypsum Discount Liquor, Heidi’s Deli, Honey Bun, Keller Williams Real Estate (Black Bear Partners, Joan and Barb), Mac’s Liquor, Napa, Pastime Concession, Pastime Bar and Grill, PCL Construction, Red Canyon Cafe, Rittenhouse Restaurant, Steve’s Barbecue, Stor-N-Lock, town of Gypsum, Vail Valley Jet Center and WECMRD (Gypsum Recreation Center).
A special thanks to all those volunteers who help this to be the friendliest event in the valley. Volunteers Jerry and Susan Semrod from Computer Rescue do the computer race finish order. Other volunteers include Scott Covington, Margaret Edwards, Tom Edwards, Bill Fisher, Bob Foley, Sara Fisher, Sheldon Haase, Joan Harned, Tom Harned, Kara Heide, Alice Jaramillo, Matt Jaramillo, Bill McCarthy, Joyce McCarthy, David Medina, Kristen Medina, Maxine Medina, Karl Reynolds and Kelly Small.
The Gypsum Daze 5K Run/Walk hopes everyone had a great time and we look forward to seeing you again next year for what could be the biggest event in the valley if we keep increasing at this rate.
Thanks to all.
