Mountain cleanup set for Wednesday

Daily Staff Report

The Vail Mountain cleanup this year, scheduled for Wednesday, will be part treasure hunt.

Volunteers will receive a voucher good for one free day of skiing or riding on Vail Mountain for the 2004-2005 season. Volunteers should meet at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. From there, teams will be transported up the mountain via truck or the gondola to specific cleanup sites.

Trash bags will be provided, but volunteers are expected to bring their own work gloves, water, sunblock, hat, snacks, hiking shoes and clothing for inclement weather.

At noon, Vail Mountain dining staff will host a complimentary barbecue on the outdoor deck at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Volunteers will be transported to the deck for lunch, where lift ticket vouchers will be distributed. After lunch, teams will meet again to continue cleaning and hike down to the base area on assigned runs.

To volunteer, or for more information, call 479-3001 or e-mail jbrown@vailresorts.com.
