Remembering Vic Gallina

Cheri Gallina sent this, in memory of her brother.

“In memory of Vic Gallina. I miss Vic’s light-hearted sense of humor. I miss his always having the right answer, knowing a simple solution to a difficult problem. I miss him never being afraid to tell the truth. I miss his honesty. He was always such a “better safe than sorry” kind of guy, he always followed through on any task. He was a very hard worker, and he always gave it his all. He had old fashioned integrity, he was someone you could depend on. He loved Colorado, it was his home for 40 years. He was a founding father of Vail, he build many beautiful homes and businesses there. He was a great carpenter. He closed most deals in the early days on a handshake. He was a stand-up guy, a real straight shooter. he was my big brother and I miss him. His loving sister, Cheri Gallina.”

Dispelling misconceptions

Many of the misconceptions surrounding Saudi Arabia were dispelled by-former White House Senior Staffer Les Janka as he-presented to the Vail/Eagle Valley Rotary chapter’s breakfast meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Manor Vail Resort. Janka, who served on the senior staff under three presidents – Nixon, Ford and Reagan –and served at the Pentagon as deputy assistant secretary of defense for Near Eastern Affairs, is the founder and chairman of the Council for American-Saudi Dialogue in Washington, D.C. The council is an American nonprofit organization that provides public education, information and people-to-people programs to promote stronger political, social and economic ties between the two countries. Approximately 85 Rotarians attended the lively meeting-and learned how vital Saudi Arabia is to the health and security of the United States.
