Mountain Travel Symposium coming to Vail

Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL The Vail Cascade Resort and Spa and the Town of Vail, the Vail Valley Partnership and Vail Resorts announced yesterday that Vail will host the 2008 Mountain Travel Symposium, April 6 12 of next year. The travel symposium is the largest and longest-running annual gathering of mountain travel professionals in North America. The symposium was held in Whistler in 2007 and in Squaw Valley in 2006. The week-long symposium is expected to bring $1 million to the community. The Mountain Travel Symposium presents Vail Mountain, the Town of Vail and all those doing business in Vail a wonderful opportunity to spotlight both on- and off-mountain amenities, said Ian Arthur, vice president of sales & marketing for Vail Mountain. We look forward to showcasing the recent efforts by the resort and the town that will ensure Vail consistently remains one of the most sought-after ski destinations in the world. The symposium features educational forums with presentations from nationally-known speakers, breakout sessions and two trade shows. A variety of social events and activities are also scheduled during the week, most of which will be at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa.The anticipated attendees, upwards of 1,000, represents a nice piece of business at the tail end of the season when business is historically slower. Yet the real gem for Vail to realize and capitalize upon is that these attendees include most of the industrys tour operators and major ski clubs who are shopping for future vacation locations for their customers, said Ralf Garrison, founder and co-owner of the Mountain Travel Symposium. Their opportunity to get a first hand look at the new Vail, is priceless. The event also coincides with Vail Mountains Spring Back to Vail celebration. For more information, go to the Vail Valley Partnerships Web sit and click on the Events icon.Registration opens Dec. 6.
