Indy is part of the stable at Mountain Valley Horse Rescue. He's a particularly friendly guy and he has spent his entire life at the Bruce Creek Ranch. Indy was born at the facility just a few weeks after his mother was saved from a slaughter auction.

EAGLE — By definition, a heyday is “the period of a thing’s greatest success, popularity or vigor.” The folks at Mountain Valley Horse Rescue naturally hope their Hay Day event lives up to that billing.

This Saturday, the Mountain Valley Horse Rescue is hosting its fourth annual Hay Day celebration.

“Hay Day is an open house event to give the public an opportunity to come out to the center to meet the horses and just see what it is we do,” said Mountain Valley Horse Rescue Director Shana Devins.

She noted the day’s emphasis is on family fun, not fundraising, but added donations are always accepted. It’s also a great way to meet some of the animals the horse rescue is caring for.

“We will be doing some demonstrations with the horses who are available for adoption,” Devins said.

The crew from Ute Springs Experiential Learning Center, which partners with Mountain Valley Horse Rescue to provide programing at its Bruce Creek location, will be at Hay Day to offer fun activities for kids. For adults there will be a silent auction and music by the Jeffrey Clay Reed Band. There will also be food vendors.

The fun begins at 2 p.m. Mountain Valley Horse Rescue, 1001 Bruce Creek Road. Take the Bruce Creek/Salt Creek turn off of Brush Creek Road and the ranch is located on the right.
