The Avon Summer Carnival is in town through Sunday. It’s located east of City Market in Avon. Unlimited ride passes are $18 in advance and available at the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Avon Police Department, Battle Mountain High School, Vail Police Department, Bright Future Foundation in Avon, Marko’s Pizza in Edwards and the Samaritan Center in Edwards. A portion of the proceeds benefits local nonprofits, including the Buddy Mentors Program. Tickets are $30 at the gate. The carnival is open from 5 p.m. to midnight today; noon to midnight on Saturday; and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 970-763-7210.

Eagle Art Walk/BikeThe first Eagle Art Walk and Bike of the season takes place tonight in and around downtown Eagle. Studios, galleries and host businesses will showcase work by local artists from 2 to 6 p.m. or later. Maps to all the sites, with artist information included, will be available at several businesses around town and signs will be posted. Julian’s music incorporates a roots Reggae sound infused with hip hop, bubbling dancehall and R&B. He’s toured extensively with his brothers Damian and Stephen performing his soulful and spiritual music, covering his father’s songs, as well as producing platinum-selling albums of his own. The concert will take place at Checkpoint Charlie in Vail Village. After the show, head to Samana Lounge in Vail for the Teva Black Out Party. DJ Lito will spin. The group reunites former Gathering Gravity members Kevin LaCarrubba on guitar and lead vocals, Lucas Weigand on guitar and percussion, James Bosma on keyboards and guitar and former Hot Buttered Rum, and Railroad Earth drummer, Jake Brooks. The group plays rock, reggae and blues classics as well as their own lively jams. Glenwood’s newest adventure attraction takes participants 40 feet above the Colorado River in Glenwood Canyon. The grand opening celebration is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include zipping for only $15 – less than half of the regular ($32) price.
