N.H. ski area delays planned expansion
DANBURY, N.H. ” A New Hampshire ski resort has put a major expansion on hold because of the economy.
Ragged Mountain in Danbury says it still plans to build more than 800 vacation homes and put new trails on a third peak for skiing. But resort president Bob Fries says that while Ragged will keep doing preliminary work, it is unlikely to start construction until the market for vacation homes improves.
Utah-based RMR Pacific bought the struggling ski area two years ago and pumped fresh capital into it. Fries says the expansion, once it starts, is likely to take 15 to 20 years.
