Nappy Roots return to Avon for a show at Agave
Nappy Roots returns to the Vail Valley Friday night for a show at Agave in Avon, along with special guests Whiskey Blanket.
When country-and-proud hip-hop quintet Nappy Roots first proposed a last minute show in Eagle County in February 2010, local music promoter Crawford Byers of Rocky Mountain Entertainment questioned whether the buzz about this often underrated act had made it to the Colorado Mountains. There was no need to worry. With only two weeks between confirmation and show date, locals still packed Agave in Avon for a surprise sell out.
Inspired rhymes that remain profound and positive are what separate Nappy from their peers. Kentuckians already celebrate “Nappy Roots Day” every Sept. 16 in the group’s honor and word is spreading. Soon they’ll have to shed their “underground” label. Nappy Roots brings its distinctive twist on Southern bounce back to Agave this Friday January 6th with special guests Whiskey Blanket. Ticket sales are already brisk, and Byers warns too buy early if you don’t want to be left out in the cold.
Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and music starts at 10 p.m. Tickets are $16 day of show, available at Agave, Get Hi Gallery and RMEntertainment.com.
