‘Near-drowning’ at Glenwood Springs pool

Glenwood Springs Post-Indepdent
Vail, CO Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Authorities took a boy who nearly drowned at the Hot Springs Lodge and Pool Wednesday afternoon to Valley View Hospital.

“There was a near-drowning,” said Glenwood Springs Fire Department Lt.. Dave Reinhold. “I do not know his status right now.”

The boy showed no signs of trauma and was breathing when emergency personnel arrived Wednesday, Reinhold said.

Some bystanders saw him in the pool. It was unclear whether they pulled him out or called lifeguards, Reinhold said.

It was also unclear what caused the incident and if the boy was resuscitated by lifeguards.

Kjell Mitchell, general manager of the pool, couldn’t be immediately reached Thursday. A hospital spokesperson couldn’t be immediately reached late in the day, either.

Reinhold said medical confidentiality laws prohibit him from saying about how old the boy is.
