New principal chosen for Eagle school

EAGLE, Colorado – Eagle County Schools have announced that Tiffany Dougherty has been named the new principal of Eagle Valley Elementary School.

For the past 17 years, Dougherty has worn the hats of kindergarten, second-grade, seventh-grade and eighth-grade teacher, master teacher, assistant principal and principal. Her first three years as a school administrator started in Eagle County as assistant principal at Brush Creek Elementary School, followed by a short stint at Avon Elementary School as interim principal. Since 2010, Dougherty has been the principal at Northwest Elementary School in Newport, Tenn., a pre-kindergarten-eighth grade school with 425 students.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a focus on language arts and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, both from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Additionally, Dougherty attained her education specialist degree in educational administration from Lincoln Memorial University.

-Pending board approval, July 30 will be the official start date for Dougherty.
