BEAVER CREEK — Bill Harrison’s disclaimer reads: “Yes, these are drawings, not photographs.” Harrison has spent the past 40 years mastering the ability to create photo-realistic drawings that are so detailed and lifelike you believe you are looking at a black-and-white photograph.

After an early career in illustration, Harrison decided to transition into the fine-art world. Since then, he has tackled a variety of subject matters, but some of his most sought-after pieces are of man’s best friend. His canine portraits vary from intimate lap dogs at leisure to the intensity of a working dog.

Harrison has the ability to capture a dog’s demeanor and personality with subtle, gestural nuances. This is true of his latest sporting dog collection, which is on display at Paderewski Fine Art in Beaver Creek through Saturday, Dec. 24.

Paderewski Fine Art is located in Beaver Creek, on the Plaza level of the Hyatt, across from the ice rink. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Call 970-949-6036 or visit for more information.
