Vigil planned for missing hiker

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – Family members are holding a vigil for missing hiker James Nelson today in Iowa.

Nelson, 31, of the Chicago area, disappeared into the Holy Cross Wilderness in early October.



The vigil will take place at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2301 East Court St. in Iowa City, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

GYPSUM – The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is looking for any information on the suspect or suspects that are tagging “KYS” and “CARLA” on cement silos and sidewalks in the Stratton Flats area.



Tattoo equipment stolen in Edwards

EDWARDS – The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is investing the theft tattoo equipment from the Edwards Village Ink Lounge located at 57 Edwards Village Blvd.

The theft occurred between Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is concerned that the suspect or suspects may set up shop at home and target kids for an easy buck.

VAIL – U.S. Ski Team broadcast partner Universal Sports will carry today’s naming of the 2011 U.S. Alpine Ski Team live, beginning at 4:30 p.m., on http://www.UniversalSports.com.

The event, presented by Vail Resorts, features 2010 Olympic stars Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Andrew Weibrecht, and 2010 World Cup giant slalom champion Ted Ligety.

The public is welcome to the event, scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. at Vail Square, in Lionshead.

The program will feature action reels of U.S. Ski Team athletes mixed in with the live naming of each athlete as they take to the stage in Vail Square at Lionshead.

VAIL – Vail Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an early morning attempted burglary in Vail Village.

The incident happened Friday at approximately 2:30 a.m. at the Red Lion.

Footage from Red Lion security cameras show the suspect is a white male wearing a vest, tan pants and black boots.

The suspect is believed to be involved in a series of burglaries of Vail businesses. Like the other burglaries, the suspect used a small pry tool to gain entry. Businesses are asked to take precautions to prevent future burglaries.
