Next Pedal Power snowshoe race is Jan. 30
VAIL, Colorado – Pedal, stride and glide will be the keys to success as The Pedal Power Snowshoe Adventure series continues on Jan. 30 with the third annual Aria Club & Spa Winter Triathlon. The race starts at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center at 10 a.m. It consist of a 10K snow-bike, 5K snowshoe and a 8K skate-ski. The race is open to individuals and teams.The nonprofit snowshoe series, now in its 14th season, benefits charities in Eagle and Lake counties and consists of five events starting in early December and running through the end of FebruaryMulti-discipline winter events have become increasingly popular, says race organizer Bruce Kelly, “Because of the unique nature of this competition, it has quickly become one of the ‘must-do’ events among our competitors,” Kelly says. “It was so well received, in fact, that this year we’ve added a second triathlon to the series for next month.”Racers will meet at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center at Ski Cooper, between I-70 and Leadville. The snowshoe leg of the event will take place on off-piste, single track with the bike and ski portions on groomed Nordic track.Pre-registration for this event is $35 for individuals and $30 per person for teams. Racers can register on the day of the race for $40 for individuals and $30 per person for teams. Participants can pre-register with forms from Pedal Power Bicycle Shop in Eagle-Vail or by calling 970 845-0931. Registration forms can also be downloaded online at pedalpowerbike.com. Title-sponsors for this year’s series are 1st Bank and Gorsuch, Ltd., Maximum Comfort Pool & Spa and Dollar Rent-a-Car. Other individual event sponsors include, The Tennessee Pass Nordic Center, Pazzo’s Pizza, Aria Spa & Club and Street Swell.
