MINTURN –Forget greasy, drive-through fast food value meals for the most important meal of the day. Nicky’s Quickie in Minturn is now serving breakfast. This week, the restaurant introduced a new breakfast combo value meal for $5.99.

The menu is designed to be quick and eaten on the run, according to owner Stephen Porter.

It includes a drink, a side dish and choice of wrap. Drink options include a choice of coffee or tea, or for a dollar more, soy milk, orange juice, milk or almond milk can be substituted. Side options include choice of tarragon and leak potato (potato pancake) or Egyptian Ful Mudames (hot, seasoned fava beans). The wraps include specialties like the Bearnaise Benedict, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancake (with buttery syrup and sausage), burrito, and, of course, Greek. In keeping in line with a pork-free kitchen, Nicky’s Quickie makes all its sausage in-house with turkey. All wraps are made to order and there will be options for vegetarians, vegans and gluten and/or soy-free diets. Nicky’s Quickie is located at 151 Main Street in Minturn and is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and accepts call-in orders for take-out at 970-827-6516.

EDWARDS – A five course dinner, with five beers, for $35? Sounds like a pretty good deal to us. Crazy Mountain Brewery is partnering with Last Course Dessert Bar in The Riverwalk for a five-course food and beer pairing dinner on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Five beers will be paired with an appetizer course, two savory dishes and two sweet dishes. The evening will begin with a trio of bar snacks: pistachio and wasabi peas, truffle cheddar popcorn and caramel corn, and poached pretzels using Crazy Mountain Amber Ale, served with cheese sauce. The second course is a braised short rib with savory corn, shitake bread pudding and port barbecue sauce paired with Cara de Luna Black Ale. The third course is lobster pumpkin ravioli with sage beurre noisette and shaved parmesan paired with Lava Lake Wit beer. The fourth course is a strawberry fig tart with honey gelato and balsamic meringue paired with Old Soul Strong Belgian Golden Ale. The last course is a decadent chocolate souffle with chai gelato and salted caramel tuille paired with Snowcat Coffee Stout.

Tickets are $35 for all five courses and are available for purchase at Crazy Mountain Brewery and Last Course Dessert Bar. The event will be hosted at Last Course, located next to the Bookworm in The Riverwalk in Edwards. Advance tickets are required, as no tickets will be sold at the door.
