After more than a decade, The French Press in Edwards served its final dinner to patrons last week. The Riverwalk eatery began serving food in January 2001, after owner Zak Stone converted the space, which previously was home to a coffee shop, into the intimate French bistro.

Stone sent out an email blast this week notifying his customers and saying goodbye.

“It has been a pleasure serving the Edwards community,” he wrote. ” … I am deeply saddened by the loss of this restaurant. I will miss the friendly atmosphere, my employees, my customers, the fun we had and the food we served.”

Visit the restaurant’s website, http://thefrenchpress.net, to find out where Stone lands next.

AVON, Colorado – Richard Sandoval, the owner of Cima in The Westin in Avon and other restaurants around the country, is now selling his signature spice blends.

“In my Latin-inspired restaurants, I craft new and exciting dishes by seasoning recipes from around the globe with Latin herbs and spices,” Sandoval said. “Use my signature rubs and salts to recreate the classics served at your table.”

There are four rubs available – chipotle, ancho, coffee adobo and chimichurri – as well as a chipotle-citrus finishing salt.

The spice blends are on sale at Cima and the next-door Market for $10 each, any three for $28 or five for $45. They are also available online at http://www.richardsandoval.com.

Visit the website to see recipes for “Backyard Churrasco,” “Ceviche Ketsi” and “Coffee Adobo-Rubbed Tuna with Mole Verde.”

EDWARDS, Colorado – A new Asian restaurant in Edwards also has a new name.

Customers of the new Gobi Mongolian BBQ and Asian cuisine came up with the name after the new owners ran a contest.

Suzan Wang, Jenny Wang and Sherry Lee opened the new restaurant about two months ago, located at 69 Edwards Access Road, Unit 6, next to Alpine Bank.

It’s a Mongolian grill, and the menu includes Asian wok-fired entrees, a few Thai dishes and some Vietnamese dishes. They’re also working on adding some Indian dishes to the menu.

The Gobi Mongolian BBQ and Asian cuisine is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and weekends from 5 to 10 p.m. Call 970-926-6628.
