GYPSUM — Several local basketball stars and coaches are hosting the 11th annual No Off Days Basketball Academy.
Former Division I standout Jon Kedrowski and college coach Bob Pietrack launched the camp more than a decade ago.
“We started the camp to help give back some of what the valley gave to all of us,” Kedrowski said.
All the money from the basketball academy funds two NOD Everest Scholarships for graduating high school seniors who are attending college.

They teach some basketball, some life skills and what it’s like to be part of a team, Kedrowski said.
“It’s about the camaraderie that basketball brings,” Kedrowski said.
Coach Phil Cain, for example, will be there. Cain coaches in Grand Junction and led that Eagle Valley team with Kedrowski, Pietrack and Jim Bair, to the state tournament.
ABOUT KEDROWSKI
Kedrowski played his college basketball at Valparaiso University in Indiana, and played in the NCAA’s March Madness tournament every year he was at Valpo.
“Every year we try to bring guys to mix things up and keep the camp fresh,” Kedrowski said.
Kedrowski is an accomplished mountaineer. His heroic work on Mount Everest in 2012 saved lives on one of that mountain’s deadliest days.
That climb and his book “Sleeping the Summits” have been the subject of an extensive speaking and author tour. He also works with schools and youth organizations across the state.
The NOD Basketball Academy features offensive and defensive basketball fundamentals taught by coaches from the from the professional, college and high school ranks.
Players will also learn about education, goal-setting, discipline and teamwork from successful coaches, former players and active professionals.
