Not just walking down Bridge Street …

VAIL – It’s like a pub crawl, but there’s no start place. It’s called a slalom, but there are no fast turns involved. The Tap Room and Sanctuary along with The George, Samana, Ore House, Fubar, The Club and Los Amigos are stops along the Bridge Street Slalom every Wednesday beginning at 9 p.m.”There is no host bar. You get a card and you have to visit each,” said Steve Kaufman of the Tap Room. “Each week, we have a couple give-a-ways. Each bar can do their own thing.”Some of the alcohol sponsors include Stoli and Kahlua, and cards can be picked up at any of the participating bars as well as relinquished at any of them at the end of the night. Tonight’s grand prize is a snowboard, but prizes vary each week and culminate April 6 with a trip to a House of Blues concert at the location of the winner’s choice.”The way the tourist travelers are now in the wintertime, except for family vacation weeks, people travel Thursday through Monday. I’d like to see more people coming into town mid-week, because it’s a great night life here,” Kaufman said. “You don’t see too many specials in the winter time. This is primarily for locals. If there’s tourists in town for the slalom, good for them. I’d like to increase the energy level on the street. I wanted every bar to participate. It’s the winter time. People can make turns to each bar.”Staff Writer Shauna Farnell can be reached at 949-0555, ext. 610, or, Colorado
