Nottingham Lake and beach closed Aug. 10-11 for Open Water Swim Championships
AVON — More than 100 swimmers will converge on Harry A. Nottingham Park on Friday, Aug. 10, and Saturday, Aug. 11, for the Open Water Swim Championships, a USA Swimming-sanctioned event. Nottingham Lake and Beach area will be closed at noon Friday and will reopen at 3 p.m. Saturday to accommodate this event.
The Open Water Swim Championships includes a 5K Open Water Competition for youth ages 15 to 18 at 2 p.m. Friday and a Masters Open Race at 4 p.m. on the same day. On Saturday, there will be a 1 Mile Competition beginning with the Masters age category at 11 a.m. The same distance will be completed by youth 15 and older at noon, followed by youth 14 and younger at 1 p.m.
