NPR station broadcasting again

Daily Staff Report

EAGLE COUNTY ” After nearly six weeks off the air, KUNC public radio is reaching local homes, businesses and cars.

When the radio station, at 99.7, did a test run on Monday, reports from test listeners in Beaver Creek and at the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder’s offices reported that by 4:30 p.m., the signal was loud and clear. One test listener in Eagle reported the signal was now clearer than ever before, said Neil Best, Greeley-based KUNC’s general manager.

“So far, everything sounds really good,” Best said.

KUNC is one of two stations that broadcasts National Public Radio. The other is KPRE at 89.9. A new radio station had been interrupting KUNC’s local signal.

“We regret the inconvenience and loss to everyone, and will do everything we can to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Best said.
