Oakhurst brings ‘Rocky Mountain guerrilla grass’ to Vail Valley

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – Colorado-based Oakhurst returns to the Vail Valley playing at Agave in Avon Friday beginning at 10 p.m. The band is known for its high-energy, roots rock/bluegrass show.
Oakhurst describes themselves as a band that “spikes traditional bluegrass with rock n’ roll and a kamikaze rhythmic sensibility.”
Traveling all over the country – visiting more than 33 states in 2008 alone – Oakhurst has played major music festivals both nationally and internationally. Their latest album, “Jump in the Get Down,” has received airplay on more than 200 stations nationwide and has earned them some spots on the Americiana, Bluegrass and Jam Band charts. Oakhurst has shared the stage with a diverse range of artists such as The Flaming Lips, Lyle Lovett, and The Radiators just to name a few.
Locally, Oakhurst has shared the stage with some Colorado greats including Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, Rose Hill Drive and Great American Taxi.
Oakhurst’s last appearance in the valley was over the summer when they headlined the Hot Summer Nights Concert Series in July. Locals favorite Laughing Bones kicks off the show Friday at 10 p.m. Tickets, which are $10, are available at Get High Gallery, MOJO Music, Eagle Valley Music and Agave. Agave is located at 1060 W. Beaver Creek Blvd across from the BC West/Bear Lot in Avon.
