Alexander Harkias, father of local man, dies
Alexander Harkias, father of Eagle resident Eagle Kenneth Harkias, died May 11. He was 86. A native Californian, Harkias graduated from Huntington Park High School. He went on to become a partner in a manufacturing firm.In his personal life, he was an artist who spent plenty of time with family and friends, those who knew him said. Harkias is remembered for his love of ballroom dancing, wonderful sense of humor and his tolerant, forgiving spirit, friends and family members said.
Harkias was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carlotta, and his brother, Edward Harkias. He is survived by brother John Harkias of Long Beach, Calif.; daughter Joyce Pedersen of Tucson, Ariz.; and son Kenneth Harkias and his wife, Carol, of Eagle; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. , Saturday at First Christian Church in Torrance, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
