Andrew “Andy” Lee Given, a graduate of Battle Mountain High school, died in a car accident on March 13. He was 20.

Given was born March 8, 1987, in Englewood, Colo. He lived in the Denver area for the first nine years of his life. He moved to the Vail Valley in 1996 with his mom and stepfather, Karla and Craig McCully. He attended local schools and graduated with honors from Battle Mountain High School in 2005.

Given was very active in high school, family members say.

In addition to his classes, he was in the Future Business Leaders of America and Art clubs. He was on the cross country running, Nordic skiing and track teams.

He was living in Denver when he died.

Given is the son of Karla and Craig McCully of Avon and Richard Given of Denver. He was the brother of Joshua, Tanya and James Given of Denver and the grandson of Marlyne Walls and Robert and Lois Given, also of Denver.

There will be a celebration of life service at noon, Saturday at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion, followed by a potluck reception, casual attire is requested. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics Colorado.
