Arnold Claussen, 88, died Tuesday
Arnold Eugene Claussen of Gypsum died Tuesday at Valley View Hospital. He was 88.
Claussen was born in Ogden Iowa, the son of Carl Claussen and Alice Peterson. He married Lorraine Wright in May, 1942 in Lincoln, Neb. Claussen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Claussen, an avid fly fisherman, was a heavy equipment mechanic and welder before his retirement. He had worked since 1948 on many large projects, including: Reudi Gap, Blue Mesa Reservoir, Dillon Dam, Rifle Gap Dam, Interstate 70 and the Eisenhower Tunnel.
Recently, he was a patient at Glen Valley Nursing Home in Glenwood Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Carl Claussen Sr. and Donald Claussen.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, daughters Catherine Hill and Debra Fuller, and son Tom Claussen. He also has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home Chapel from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Saturday at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home Chapel, 405 7th St., Glenwood Springs CO 81601. The chapel’s phone number is (970) 945-5815.
