Barbara Pearch of Eagle died Thursday

Barbara Frances (Gleason) Pearch, a lifelong resident of Eagle, died at home with her family Thursday. She was 90.

She was born Aug. 25, 1916, to Thomas A. and Effie C. (Wedmore) Gleason. She graduated from Eagle High School in 1934. She babysat for several local families from 1939 to 1941.

She kept books for Koonce Chevrolet and sold show tickets in the evening for John Greeve at the Eagle Theater. She worked for the Independent Lumber Company from 1941 to 1951. She then went to work for Mr. Hubbard in the Abstract Office until she retired in 1975.

She married Thomas L. Pearch on Nov. 9, 1947. In 1950, they bought their home on Brush Creek where she spent the remainder of her life. Her husband Tom was an auctioneer and Barbara worked the auctions and did the clerical work for him. After she retired, she became more involved in his auctions.

She was a lifelong member of the Eagle Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and Bible study classes and was an active member of the UMW.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank Gleason and her husband.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at the Eagle Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, PO Box 40000, Vail, CO 81658.
