Bernard McManus, an Eagle resident, formerly of West Chester, Pa., died Saturday in Denver. He was 75.

Bernie was born August 13, 1934, to Bernard Joseph and Helen Louise McManus in Ardmore, Pa., as the eldest of three children. He graduated from West Chester State Teaching College with a degree in music education in 1957 before joining the U.S. Army’s Rolling Along Show that traveled the world. After returning, Bernie began his teaching career at Chichester Junior High School and married Diane Marjorie Polkinhorn in 1965. The couple had one son and one daughter.

An avid skier and outdoorsman, Bernie just celebrated his 45th anniversary as a member of the Eastern Division Nordic Ski Patrol. He was a member of various musical groups and other volunteer organizations and attended church regulary at Sts. Simon and Jude in West Chester and St. Mary’s in Eagle.

In recent years, Bernie was well-known to many Eagle residents from his frequent jaunts around town on his beloved blue tricycle.

Bernie is survived by his sister, Marilyn Camp, of Midland, Mich.; his brother, Brian E. McManus, of Fort Worth, Texas; his daughter, Theresa Lynne, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; his son, Bernard Alan and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nicole, Bernard Almon and Lillian Adele, of Eagle.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Eagle Ranch Pavillion at 4 p.m. Friday. Additional services to be held in Pennsylvania in June.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Eagle Senior Center in Eagle.
