Brooks D. Smith dies after lengthy illness

Brooks David Smith, of Eagle died Jan. 8 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He was 62.

Smith retired after 31 years at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

He is survived by his wife Tricia Galperin Smith, stepson Rob Shay of Edwards; stepdaughter Sally Vicario of Greenville, S. C.; his father, Lewis O. Smith, Jr., of Seattle, Wash.; brothers Lewis O. Smith, III, of Toledo, Ohio and Mark K. Smith of Seattle; grandchildren Sam Shay, Max Vicario and Mara Vicario and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Doggett of Houston, Tex.

A memorial service will be held in Milwaukee at a later date.

His family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Shaw Regional Cancer Center in Edwards, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
