Cancer claims part-time Vailite Krissel

Janet Carter Krissel, a part-time Vail resident, died Jan. 15 in New York City after an eight-month battle with lung cancer.Krissel was active in he communities in which she lived, ranging from serving on the Santa Fe Opera Board as a founding member and on the board of the National Museum of the American Indian, the Lifecenter and Children’s Museum of Santa Fe.She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bob Krissel; children Kimberly, James and Dina; and eight grandchildren.”She was one of the nicest ladies we’ve ever known,” said Vail pioneer Dick Hauserman. “We were very fond of her. She never let on as to how terribly ill she was. She always made you feel like she was better.”Hauserman and his wife Bobba said Krissel was “a wonderful friend.””As a couple, they were our closest friends,” they said.
