Car accident claims Meade-Rodman

An automobile accident claimed the life of long-time local Karen A. (Meade) Rodman.

Former longtime Eagle County resident Karen A. (Meade) Rodman died March 14. She was 44.Rodman died in the Hurley Hospital trauma unit from injuries sustained in a car accident March 11. She had been living in Santa Fe, N.M.She was born Dec. 13, 1961 to John and Doris Meade in Port Huron, Mich. Rodman attended Port Huron area schools, community college and Central Michigan University.

She married Donald Rodman in Colorado in 1993 and worked as a cook and ranch manager in Colorado and New Mexico. Rodman also worked at the Vail Valley Medical Center, the Gashouse and for Steve Jones Stables.She was an accomplished horse rider and trainer, family members and friends said. She also was gardener, enjoyed cooking for friends and family, and loved the mountains, family members and friends said.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Rodman of Santa Fe, N.M.; her mother Doris B. Meade of Port Huron; three sisters: Susan Bennett of Port Huron and Lynda and Sally Meade of Dimondale, Mich.; brother Steve (Tricia) Meade of Port Huron; niece and nephew Cameron and Kylie Meade; stepchildren Stacy Rodman of Colorado and Travis Rodman of California; several aunts and uncles; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Meade, in Oct. 2005.A memorial service was held Tuesday in Grace Episcopal Church, Port Huron.
