Chad Nordyke, 23, former Vail Resorts worker, dies

Chad Nordyke, of Kearney, Neb., died early Friday morning from injuries received in an auto accident.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in Chappell, Neb. with Pastor Jack O’Steen officiating. Nordyke was buried in the Chappell Cemetery.

Nordyke, the son of Ron R. and Dianne S. (Bargstadt) Nordyke was born April 16, 1980 in Julesburg, Colo. The family moved to Chappell, where he attended high school, graduating in 1998. He attended Southeast Community College in Milford, Neb., graduating in 2000.

Nordyke then worked for Vail Resorts at Beaver Creek. On Oct. 16, 2002, he married Pierrette Anne Lister of Eagle. They moved to Massachusetts for a short time, before returning to Kearney, where Nordyke was a mechanic for Big O Tires. Their daughter, Shayley Anne, was born on Oct. 9.

Nordyke is survived by his wife and daughter; his parents; his brother J.C., his wife, Heather, and son, Jadin, of Colorado Springs; his sister Amy, of Colorado Springs; his grandparents, Clarence and Mabel Bargstadt of Norfolk, Neb.; and several aunts and uncles.

Memorials have been established for his daughter. Contributions can be delivered to the Wells Fargo Bank in Kearney, any Big O Tire store or the Adams Bank in Chappell.
