On Jan. 13, 2009, in Vail, Claire Edith Allen was carried upon the wings of angels to heaven.

Claire was born in Laconia, N.H., on July 28, 1931 to Emile Stanisclaus and Marie Anne Allen. Claire was a faithful servant of the Lord and loved to lift up her voice in praise to Him, being a devoted member of church choirs since she was a teenager. One of Claire’s passions was needle work, especially counted cross stitch, and made beautiful baptismal napkins for the churches she attended through the years. Claire’s engaging manner and warm smile made her beloved to many.

Claire is survived by two aunts, Lucille Bartlett and Jean Brooks, and her sister Marie (Pat) Patricia Ketchum and brother Edward Girard Allen. She is also survived by her four children: Gisele Elaine Riden, Patrick Owen Purdy, Daniel Allen Purdy and Paulette Eugenie Lucas. Claire had three grandchildren: Shawn Purdy, Aleesha Bryant and Kyle Lucas. She had one great grandchild, Dylan Patrick Bryant.

In the magnificent glory of God and his son Jesus Christ, Claire was welcomed to heaven by those who had preceded her in death, both of her parents and brother Francis Patrick Allen.

A memorial service is 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Gracious Savior Lutheran Church at the Grace Auditorium on the Vail Christian High School campus in Edwards. Also, there will be a barbecue at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Riden, 0067 Horton Street, Eagle Ranch at noon. In lieu of flowers, a gift to Gracious Savior Lutheran Church or Vail Christian School would be appreciated.
