Craig Wiedl, of Leadville, 1968-2006

Craig Joseph Wiedl of Leadville died at his home last month. He was 38. Wiedl was born Sept. 27, 1968, in Boston. He attended Middleboro elementary schools and graduated from Middleboro High School in 1986. He participated in cross country, wrestling and track, and was the captain of all three teams in his senior year. He also played in the school band and orchestra, and made the all state orchestra in his senior year. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Silver M. Society. He attended the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. He graduated in 1990 and received his commission as a lieutenant with the 12th Infantry Division stationed in Ft. Carson, Colorado. He served one tour in Kuwait, leaving in 1994. He was employed at a construction project estimator. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Wiedl of Seven Hills, Ohio; his uncle, William A. Wiedl Jr. of Clarksville, Ind., and his ex-wife, Jodie Wiedl of Breckenridge. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 14 at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, Mass. Burial will be a 1 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Vail Daily, Vail, Colorado
