Daugherty memorial services Wednesday
Friends and family said Daugherty was a “wonderful wit who loved to tease and be teased.” They said he made friends more easily than almost anyone, and that he never met a stranger.
Everyone was his friend, they said, and if they weren’t a friend when he met them they soon would be.
Daugherty was a retired from Eagle County, where he worked as a heavy-equipment operator. In his spare time, he loved to share with family and friends experiences in fishing, hunting and camping. He especially loved driving his pickup truck.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Steadman. They were married in 1966, and she died in 1977. He was also preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Edward Daugherty. He and his second wife, Bernice, were divorced.
Daugherty is survived by: stepson Michael Steadman of Rock Springs, Wyo.; adopted son Leo Daugherty of Denver; adopted daughter Marie Troy of Palmer Lake; brother John A. Daugherty of Meeker; and sisters Analee Kirkham of Glenwood Springs, Ida Mary Daugherty of Rifle and Pauline Bowles of Basalt.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roaring Fork Hospice, P.O. Box 1970, Glenwood Springs, CO, 81602.
