Elaine Davis, a former longtime Gypsum resident, died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction on Sunday after a very long battle with diabetes.

Elaine was born in Payson, Utah, on Nov. 15, 1943 to Marvin Borah and Eva (Estes) Borah.

In 1972, she moved to the Gypsum, where she and her former husband, Jack Davis, and raised their three children, Terry, Teddy and Jeremy.

Elaine volunteered at local schools and was active in all the 4-H projects in which her children participated, family members say.

Elaine’s favorite things were reading, attending family functions and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, family members say.

She was the officer manager for Brent Electrical Service in Gypsum for many years.

Davis is survived by her children, Terry Davis, his wife Tori, and their children, Tianna and Taylor; Teddy James, her husband Isaac and their children, Byron Godard, Isaac James Jr. and Jonathan James; and Jeremy Davis, his wife, Delcie and their children, Clayton, K’Leigh, and Hunter.

Survivors also include a sister, Eileen Dokken of Fruita; and her longtime friend and companion, Keith Brent of Gypsum.

Services will be held today at the First Baptist Church in Gypsum, 900 2nd Street. Burial will be at the Gypsum Cedar Hill Cemetery following the service.
