EAGLE – Ellis E. Wallace, known as Henry, died Dec. 16 after spending more than two decades in the Eagle Valley. Wallace was born in Texas in 1934 but raised in Miami, Ariz. where he met his wife of 50 years, Georgia “Gus” Woodburn Wallace. After graduating from Arizona State University in 1957, with a commission in the U.S. Air Force, Wallace completed pilot training and eventually earned the rank of lieutenant colonel. Wallace spent twenty-two years serving different flying and command posts, including two tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Wallace retired in 1979 and spent four years in Washington state before moving to Eagle in 1983. After retiring, Henry spent his time focusing on his greatest joy in life his family, said Georgia Wallace. His friendly and open manner modeled integrity, kindness, involvement, and humor for everyone. Family members said he will always be a presence with those he has left behind, including his wife; daughters Lori (Mark) Taylor and Tina Wallace; grandchildren Ben and Jack Taylor; sister Pat (Howard) Baldwin; brother Wade (Gladys) Wallace; sister-in-law Lee (Mark) Stevenson; and nephews James (Kim) and Grant.A memorial service will be held for Wallace in the spring on the ranch where Wallace was raised in Arizona.
