Florence Emilie Clarkson, a former Vail homeowner, has died.
A memorial service, officiated by Rev. James Wilson, was held May 2 at the Barrington United Methodist Church in Barrington, Ill. A Scottish bagpiper performed during her burial at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Clarkson was born on March 31, 1920, in New Jersey. She met her husband, Ronald, while they both worked for the Prudential Insurance Company of America in Newark, N.J., and were married in 1942.
The Clarksons were transferred to Chicago in 1952 and lived in Barrington Hills for 35 years, before retiring to their homes in Vail and Sarasota, Fla. Clarkson was the top sales Realtor/broker and manager of the Country Squire/Century 21 office in Barrington for many years.
Clarkson had lived in the Village Green of East Dundee for the last seven years.
Clarkson enjoyed community service, decorating, swimming, golf, reading and traveling, family members said.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, and her parents, Alfred and Emilie Freggens.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Matt) Mayer of Sleepy Hollow, Ill. and Ronald (Deborah) Clarkson of Chicago; grandchildren Jennifer (Bernie) Becker of Muscatine, Iowa, Stephen Mayer of Chicago, and Veronica and Andrew of Chicago; great-granddaughter Katie Becker of Muscatine; and a brother, Robert Freggens of Maryland.
