Frederick Newman Estopinal, Jr., a former member of the Beaver Creek resort board of directors, died Wednesday in New Orleans. He was 80.

Estopinal was a graduate of Tulane Engineering School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the founder of Mechanical Construction Company of New Orleans.

He was a former member of the Young Presidents Organization, former president of the National Mechanical Contractors Association of America, recipient of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s Distinguished Service Award in 1972, former board member of the YMCA and lifetime member of the New Orleans Badminton Association.

He served on the Beaver Creek Resort Company board of directors for seven years. He also served as director of the Beaver Creek Religious Foundation.

Beloved husband of Gloria Keelen Estopinal for 58 years. Loving father of Dianne (Michael) Ater, of Salida, Colo.; Frederick Newman (Ida) Estopinal, III, Charlotte (Barry) Leader, Patricia (Joseph) Schramm, all of New Orleans. Brother of Dorothy (Wilfred) Ginn, of Greenville, S.C.; Mildred (Jack) Schindler of Bokeelia, Fla.; Janet Shaw of Washington, Pa., and the late Barbara Pope of Hondo, Texas.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
